General Updates for 10/14/12 – Blog Remodel, Off-Site Forums, etc.

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s been a long time since I’ve given a proper update on things. Let’s start with the two most obvious: I’m back, and the blog is redone. However, there’s quite a bit more as well, including a good few plans for the next few months. Curious yet?

I’m back, where was I?
Well, the Megan was on a long deep thinking hiatus where work tried to devour her very soul.  Also, I couldn’t find my tablet. Also, also, I was having a horrid time racking my mind over things like how to manage the Mag’Ud. More on that in a bit.

Hey, the blog is all brown like!
I decided to continue with the browns to be reminiscent of not only nature, but an old story book. This project isn’t at all about fake money, and not really about the real stuff. It’s about coming together, writing, and exploring.  I may have the role of page-master, and often overlord, but we’re all the writers to spin the story. Yeah, granted, writing about lion-bear-tigr-goat things isn’t most folk’s cup o’ tea. On the other hand, there’s a wonderful chance of a rich and varied world with a life all it’s own. Also note that many of the pages got content added to them. There’s even an easy (yet through  description of all the clans.

So, what else?
As I was saying before, the Mag’Ud finally have a system that’s easy enough for just about anyone to remember, and flexible enough to create a unique and  in-depth character. And yeah, they’re still rare and pretty much RP required. There’s a good few of you who have one though, and I highly suggest you get to registering them soon!

We’re also skipping any notion of a Halloween event. Yes, there’s still two weeks and I could probably put something together. I’m opting, however, to take a bit more time working towards a winter festival. (By the way, you will have to have your Mag’Ud registered before the festival to be able to roll or receive bonuses) It also let’s me get caught up on growing before then as well.

The rules page has also been updated. Don’t steal, beg, or be a general dick, and you’ll be perfectly fine. Figured it was a good time to clarify the basics a bit.

Hmm… thinking that’s about it for this round…

Oh! the forums. I’d like to encourage everyone to go try them out for a bit. Do some roleplay. Let me know how it’s working. Trying to offer not only a non-gaia alternative, but something I can keep a bit cleaner and control a bit more than the guild. This mainly means that for people who are only interested in this project and nothing else on gaia, they won’t have to log in to gaiaonline at all. You will have to register to be able to view many of the boards (including RP). It will stay like that for a while to keep away spammers and evil bots. Have had issues with them in the past.

 

And to leave you with a few things to eyeball. A preview of one of the pets for the winter sale, as well as some sketches I did for line practice. It’s been far too long since I picked up my tablet.

 

 

 

Freebie Raffle

I’ve been busy in the shadows recently working on growings, backed custom orders, and preparing for  some sort of Halloween event. So to take a break from all of that and add a touch of fresh blood to the pot, a freebie raffle seemed a great idea.

It should be noted now that this fella’s genetics are a little unstable. No, it’s not due to the fact that he has no horns. Just expect his adult coloring to be the same theme but several hues and such to be a little different. ^^ He could get darker or lighter, or even spring a few new edits if he’s roleplayed a good bit. Who knows what’s in store?

March Update

This round I bring you a preview of the updated female lineset edited in a loving fashion by Tandy, and inked by me (TFK). Am really excited about this, as it fully brings together the style of the first two stages more than I’ve ever been able.

Tonight I will be working to template this beauty, and further the adult male’s changes, though far less drastic.

January Update!

It’s Megan again, here with a shop update. Woop woop!

Life has been busy lately with planning for an upcoming trip to Norway in Feb. so much to do before then! Waaaa!!! RL job has also upped the hours by a few which has been greatly needed.

I should like to mention that the RP setting for the world as a whole, currently, is snowy. Clans with fire-starters, or fire-bearers, are most likely using that to stay warm. Others are finding or making dens where they can, and a few have have moved from the higher mountains to the lower valley floor where it is less harsh. Larger groups have also most likely stored grains, winter squashes, dried meats, and other things to help through the long cold months. If your still working on a role-play from the summer or another time of year, don’t fret! That’s still perfectly fine. :3 This is just our way of keeping the world moving roughly as a whole in real time.

We will be bringing the click-ables into a new light, but I haven’t decided how. The big question is weather they should effect the Serenity world, or just be something fun for all. Until then, I’m not really planning to mess with it.

I am looking for someone to run a very small valentines day event for me. It pays 75% of the proceeds (since I have to cert and color it all, I’m taking 25%). You do not already have to be on Serenity staff, just already have been around a bit, and willing to do it right.

We have one growing today! I’ll post it next.

Archive Gallery Arise!

For those of you who have been around the shop for a better part of the last four years, you’ve discovered by now that I can be a choatic mess. As RL always comes first (or should) often times certings and growings have gone a bit slower, or not happened. I do apologize for this. For a good while I had aspired to make Serenity as populated and popular as several of the big B/G shops on gaiaonline. But when it comes down to it, the hustle and bustle of so many new faces, comings and goings, and high demand on a high output of colorings continually left my exhausted.

As of last night, in the effort to clean up the mess from so many breakdowns, I’ve started a few things which may help get everything organized. For you, this means the ability to find old pets and more easily place them up for growings, certings, homeings, or whatever you need.

Main points not directly relating to the new archive gallery include:

-All unhomed babies from breedings prior to summer 2010 may be kept by any remaining parent owner.  If you would not like to keep it, please give it away to someone who will be happy to at least post it’s sert info and give it a name OR give it back to the shop to find a home for you. I am not going to dig back and find parent owners who aren’t around the site and give their babies away, but I will request that those who are around get to it! That way they can grow. :3

-As Serenity has re-found it’s self and to better hug it’s core RP concept, I am considering making ALL non-breeding growings by request only. This would mean that the baby would stay a baby for as long as you like, to allow for RP. When your ready for the next stage, just post the quick form and it’ll go in a short queue.

‘Bout time I got to that, huh? In an effort to help people find their uncerted images, make family trees (Yes, we’re going to have the web script for that too) I have uploaded almost every uncerted pet that has been living on laptop and external hard drive. There’s still a few (such as the WoW raptors) which are stuck completely in their original Photoshop format. These are available upon owner’s quest.

The Soon-ish Future

We are currently looking to fully reopen sales, etc. once everything is ready. All the old familiars need their templates redone and their lines tweaked/updated to fit in with everything. RL commissions need to be finished as well, as several people have been waiting a very long time. Shop layout needs a semi-update to reflect links to all the new information/FAQ’s that have appeared over the course of the last few months. The time is close at hand, however!

We’re looking to do some grams if not at the end of December, then for valentines. And an easter egg hunt in April. Also, year around gram functions for all the various small critter species. Oh! And have a few new to add as well. :3

The Mag’Ud are also about to be finished, with downloadable PDF ability sheets. Am just deciding on weather or not to give them their own line set.
